Associate of Applied Liberal Arts and Sciences

The Associate of Applied Liberal Arts and Sciences (ALAS) is intended to meet the needs of many students. It is recommended for students whose educational goals require flexibility. This two-year degree provides students an opportunity to

  • Design a customized program to accomplish their personal educational goals.
  • Explore interests for a future four-year degree when undecided about their major.
  • Transfer to a four-year institution. The required core curriculum for this degree fulfills the New Mexico Department of Higher Education lower-division general educational common core.
  • Offer concurrently enrolled/dual enrollment students a straightforward pathway to complete an associate degree.

A minimum of 60 credit hours is required for this degree.

This degree will automatically be awarded to students who start as first-time first-year students from Fall 2019 forward and meet the degree requirements.

*Students wishing to participate in commencement must apply for graduation when they have no more than seven hours remaining to graduate.  Students who do not wish to participate in commencement do not need to apply.

Admissions

Students must follow the admissions process as outlined by the Office of Admissions.

  1. Apply to WNMU
  2. Pay the application fee
  3. Send high school transcripts and test scores to WNMU.

There are no additional admission requirements to this program.
