Graduate Certificates
Interdisciplinary Studies Program

Program Information

Graduate Certificates (GC) require 18 credit hours of graduate-level coursework in a specific content area.

Graduate certificates allow students to document completion of 18 hours within a field.  In most states, 18 credit hours at the graduate level qualifies instructors as “content area experts” in that discipline.  In combination with a master’s degree, the graduate certificate qualifies instructors to teach at the lower-division college level, including dual enrollment courses.

Program Requirements

Letter of Intent

The Letter of Intent is a formal letter that articulates the student’s goals and proposed plan of study.  This letter must be approved by the Interdisciplinary Studies director and the faculty mentor for the discipline.

Additional information regarding the Letter of Intent will be provided when a student receives final admittance in Graduate Admissions.
